From Social Media to Social Anxiety Disorder

Image
Social media has brought us a lot of things. Some of those are great things like sharing.  We share our joys, we share our sorrows.  We share our highs, we share our lows.  We share our opinions, we share our concerns.  We share our successes, we share our failures. If you ask yourself a question, have I become a more open and forthcoming person because of using social media, the answer for most of us is going to be a YES. However the counter question 'why' could be a tricky one. Why were you not so open, free and forthcoming before you started using social media? What is/are the factor(s) which make you a different person on social media? The answer may vary a little bit in the way you put it in words, however, the crux is going to be DISTANCE.  We make so many new contacts, connections and friends over internet whereas we fail to find even a few friends in real life. Distance brings in a lot of ignorance and secrecy. This gives us the space which acts as cushion to be able to

Goodbye 2021

Here we are once again, seeing off the year. A year that was quite different from rest of the years. A year of some hope after its predecessor has wrecked havoc in the world. A year with uncertainties still looming large. A year which has robbed children of their natural education and life. We can go on listing the distinctions of this year. But now let's bid adieu to this year on a positive note. Let's promise this passing year that we will not let the coming year slip by loosing heart and spirit. I am not here to retrospect on the incidences in the world. As usual I want all of us to introspect on our own worlds within. The outer world is not in our control but the inner world totally is. The outer world may be prosperous and blooming while your inner world is poor and withered. You might have observed many rich people walking the earth with gloomy faces while the people doing just OK seems to be oozing out the positivity. This difference comes from the state of your inner wo

Dear Parents What's Your Role?

Image
Let me ask one hackneyed question, that we keep hearing, reading but don't really bother to ponder upon. What is the meaning of our existence in this world? Of course there cannot be single answer to it and I am definitely not going into spiritual aspect of it. For a common man, what is the purpose of existence. To live a successful life - right? Whatever maybe the definition of success but everyone wants to be successful in life. In different roles, we assess our success based on relevant criteria. A successful businessman, artist, player. A successful family man, parent, husband\wife. As parents, your responsibility is to make provisions for your children till they become independent. However most people mistake making provisions as earning fortunes. Struggle is necessary in life. Struggle is what prepare one for life. Struggle makes an individual mentally strong and help develop the surviving skills required in future. A life without struggle also robs one of invaluable learning

Mystery of HAPPYness

Image
Preamble We must be conscious of our every action. It won't be exaggerating to say we live most of our life unconsciously. We promote and encourage mechanization of almost everything so that things are taken care of without any botheration. The mechanization of LIFE is a sad offering to us by scientific revolution. History of human evolution gives us some interesting, weird and some weirdly interesting findings. We humans have always been in the pursuit of happiness and we still are. Although it is ironic that the farther we go back in history, the happier were the people despite the hardships, if we want to call them so, they faced in respective era.  What went wrong?  All our scientific researches have been focused on bringing more and more convenience into human life. Initially convenience came with happiness as it reduced the efforts required in a mundane task so that we could utilize that time for the activities of our liking. For e.g. invention of a match saved us the time sp

We Failed Our Children

Smothering education in masks  16 months is not a short period. We have seen enormous amount of work getting done in this Corona pandemic. Healthcare upgrade was phenomenal even if far from sufficient. IT industry flourished a lot in this period because they have accepted the new normal and adapted to the demands. Work from home turned out to be a win-win situation for both employees and employers. One sector however got completely overlooked by the govt. of Bharat that is Education .  Government never appeared to be determined to solve the problems faced by education sector. There was never a point in time when govt. had clear strategy on how to conduct activities in this sector. They took the procrastinating approach of crossing the bridge when we reach there. And what they did then? They kept cancelling and postponing various exams - The only actions taken by the government because there was no time left to take any action. And they took pride in cancelling exams too which in my opi

Lines Of Defense

Image
Hello friends! Although and unfortunately we have recently celebrated Corona anniversary, the pandemic is loosing its scary psychological influence on us which keeps us away from living our life to the fullest. This pandemic has given us lots of positive and constructive ways out. Helped us in course correction of how the life should be viewed at and lived. Hope made us survive throughout last year and hope only is going to teach us to live with Corona and many other unpleasant surprises. First Line of Defense Vaccination is taking speed and is the ultimate way to deal with this enemy. Taking precautions and evading Corona infection is a good first line(L1) of defense(LOD). However, like in any other battles, the first line defense can only do so much. A strong enemy like Corona is going to destroy it sooner or later and make inroads. Hence while you try to defend L1 LOD, make sure that you are simultaneously working on 2nd(L2) and 3rd(L3) LOD.  Second Line of Defense L2 is to get your

Good Bye 2020

Let's keep aside the different religious faiths and beliefs about incarnation and all and keep it simple. We have been gifted with this one LIFE And the life consists of uncountable presents - the NOW moments. We have been getting advice from all human cultures to live in present as past is dead and dark and future is imaginary. The only thing we should carry with us from past in learning. Of course there is no harm to carry on memories from past life and of your loved ones, with the condition that those give you positivity and power. And still you should hardly waste your time dwelling in them. Same is the case for future. It's an unknown time and space terrain where the rays of the Sun of our Life haven't reached yet. Hence it is definitely not wise to waste your time too much in contemplations and imaginations. If you dwell in your past or dream about your future, you are doing that in present which is your LIFE and in the process you are stealing the moments from your

Ego Self-Treatment

Image
(Disclaimer: The article is an outcome of my exploration and experience about dealing with the ego.  I frankly admit that it is easier said than done and I am still struggling. Results vary person to person, depending on sincerity of actions in the process.)   Ego is an abundant material, we can easily see ego in others but we are somehow blind towards self-ego. Some of us admit to themselves being egotist.  Now the question is, how bad is your ego? Your close ones can answer it better than anyone else in world. We are pretty good in pretending to be a good human being at our workplaces or in distant relations. But our near and dear ones face our ego bursts almost everyday. It takes courage and conviction to take this self-assessment, but sooner the better. Be forthcoming, frank and open on this activity. Ask your close friends and family to assess you on ego scale 1 to 10. If they bypass your questions and/or are reluctant to share their opinion about you being an egotist, that will b

Do Stretch Yourselves

Image
A quote says, All man’s troubles arise from the fact that we do not know what we are and do not agree on what we want to be. Your life is not only yours. It belongs to the entire human race. Whatever body structure, features and powers you are enjoying today are the outcome of making and doing of the human race until your birth. All that got used more and often, went on becoming better and better. All that was not put to use was ultimately shed away. Shedding the tail was not a necessity, it was an outcome of the choices made by our ancestors.  A choice as insignificant as rolling your eyeballs in all directions and trying to stretch and extend your eyesight is going to decide the actual vision span for human race in future. You can stretch the angles now to maintain what was gifted to you. Or you can be ignorant and/or selfish not to do that because you do not need it in your life. But the future generations won't have this choice. They will be born with reduced vision span and ma

Good Bye 2019

Friends since past few years we have been taking our life's retrospective on the last day of the year. We do touch upon many topics like where we started last year and where we have reached. Are we a better person today as compared to last 31st December.  We have been maintaining two lists, remember? First, the list of people whom you would like to say thanks for contributing to your life positively by offering a help howsoever small. Second, the list of people who would be saying thanks to you because you did the same with them: helped those people knowingly or unknowingly. We agreed that whenever we get a chance to help someone we should treat it as an opportunity to become a better person. When I tell you guys to do so, of course I myself do the same. I write daily diary and last two sentences cover what help did I receive today and what help did I offer today. These notations on every page help me assess myself on this last day. And you know what, I am not very happ
