Value Of Nature And Environment

When someone asks a question, what is the value of environment in our LIFE, the value of question itself varies based on whom are we asking. For some people the question would not be even worth answering. Some may take a stab at it by answering it in 3-4 lines and get away. However for some people it is a topic at heart which they would like to be asked again and again so that they can create the awareness about the seriousness of this question.

It is a very vast topic to discuss and hundreds of books are written on the same issue. I will say issue because we human being had reached to the point where the word environment is always followed by issue. When mighty lord awarded us with this beautiful earth, it was with the same love and affection as a father who provides his son a valuable gift. Now this gift has to be treasured and the joy to be shared. But as the son grows old and grows knowledgeable (what an irony), he would expect more, demand more and demands never stop. The precious gift in the process is dumped and wasted.

Coming back to question, the value of environment is the same as of that gift given to his son by loving and caring father. And all his sons have now grown old enough to dump the precious gift in waste unaware of the fact that it is the last one they have got.

Acknowledging the value of environment and that there are issues around environment protection and conservation,  I will dare to say that "all problems are rooted in population". If anyone has answers how to address problem of population, we can be rest assured all other problems will eventually be answered. We need to understand one thing that problem needs to be solved. It may be at expense of someone's loss. However the loss again is relative term. Our greed is so voracious that, when you tell someone that we would like to protect environment so that many more coming generations can enjoy it, most of the people would nod and agree. Now when you say to achieve this, each of us will have to give some contribution. Hence we would like you to donate 5% your earnings for this noble cause. That's it, we hit a dead end. Everybody wants to pretend they care but are not ready to take their share in solving the problems. Some people wants to sideline the main issue for classified reasons of interest and try to divert the attention from the main issue by taking us on tour of enigma.

Here are some interesting prepositions:
a) Population is the effect of environment degradation
b) Environment degradation is caused by poor and uneducated people
c) Environment degradation is caused by rich and high class population

There can be many more such statements which appear to be potential however we need to dig into deep to uncover roots. Don't we?

I cannot in any remote possibility deduce or infer how population surge can be an effect of environment degradation. Yes there are many obvious reasons it can be vice-versa. Irrespective of rich or poor, increased consumption of natural resources causes environment decay; which is proportionate to population. China and India performing badly on environment performance index also tells the same story. If one man doesn't know value of environment and is on mission to spoil environment, not a problem. But when there are 7 billion (discounting few million good Samaritans) selfish self-centred hypocrite human beings out there ripping it apart thread by thread,  it is a big, large, huge, gigantic issue.

And the solutions are not simple and direct. Maybe solution is simple but its execution definitely is not. However if united we stand for the cause and have the willingness it can change the equations. Simple or complex doesn't matter much when goal has to be achieved.

How to make that happen..... A BIG question mark. Educating people about issue is easier part of it. Uplifting their souls to be able to concerned about a problem thousand years in future is the real challenge.
